We are owned by that which we study, by that which we ponder on.
We might think we apprehend the contents, the ideas, the interrelatedness. It is the other way around. These things shape us and then we shape our world, through them.
Then apprehension takes on a different meaning, that of being arrested, stopped. Not by the police, but by the structures we call our own.
So we need to pay attention to what we study, what we ponder on.
